BOOK BLOGGER AWESOMENESS!
So, as you may
know, I am working on the issue of book discoverability. Publishing
has a real problem as far as getting the word out about debut and
non blockbuster books.
I'm working on a fix for that. Or at
least helping in my own small way.
So I'm setting up a website to help
find new books. The idea is to give people the same chance they used
to get in bookstores-- The chance to look at book covers,
read the blurbs on the back. Peruse the first few pages and see if it
hooks them.
So where do bloggers come in? Simple.
Bloggers help spread the word! Also, your readers come to trust you
and your taste.
But we're talking about a lot of
books-- which makes reviewing really difficult and time consuming.
Also, reviews open you guys up to all sorts of “author behaving
badly” and “scorned fan backlash” that I would never want to
put you through.
So, here is my plan to open up the
doors for readers and books, build your blog readership and fix the
entire broken publishing system ( okay, so maybe not that last thing,
but we can do our part.)
You tell me what genres/ age groups you
are interested in reading. I send you a link to the blurb, book cover
and first pages. All I'm asking you to do is to read them over and
pick a few to be your “picks of the week”, books that you might
put on your own TBR pile. I would love to see you create a regular
feature on your blog on which you feature your picks and link to the
books Bookavore page.
You'll get an official Bookavore blog
banner. Your blog will be mentioned as giving the “picked” books
the thumbs up and it will be linked back both on the page. I'll also
be mentioning the blogs on all of the social media set up for the
website.
I have no idea if this will fly. I hope
it does, because I think it's important. I know offering “exposure”
is pretty empty-- but right now I can't make any promises.
The project isn't up & running yet,
but I'd love to have you aboard!
